Abstract:

Distance-based clustering methods categorize samples by optimizing a global criterion, finding ellipsoid clusters with roughly equal sizes. In contrast, density-based clustering techniques form clusters with arbitrary shapes and sizes by optimizing a local criterion. Most of these methods have several hyper-parameters, and their performance is highly dependent on the hyper-parameter setup. Recently, a Gaussian Density Distance (GDD) approach was proposed to optimize local criteria in terms of distance and density properties of samples. GDD can find clusters with different shapes and sizes without any free parameters. However, it may fail to discover the appropriate clusters due to the interfering of clustered samples in estimating the density and distance properties of remaining unclustered samples. Here, we introduce Adaptive GDD (AGDD), which eliminates the inappropriate effect of clustered samples by adaptively updating the parameters during clustering. It is stable and can identify clusters with various shapes, sizes, and densities without adding extra parameters. The distance metrics calculating the dissimilarity between samples can affect the clustering performance. The effect of different distance measurements is also analyzed on the method. The experimental results conducted on several well-known datasets show the effectiveness of the proposed AGDD method compared to the other well-known clustering methods.

Abstract:

Breath holding (B.H) attacks is one of the most common problem in children that disturbs their parents. With respect to the presence of discrepancies between anemia and iron therapy in this condition, this study designed for evaluation the relation of C.B.C findings and B.H attacks. This analytical case-control study was done on 86 patients under 6 years old who referred to outpatient clinic of Shahid Beheshti Hospital and Private Clinic in Kashan in 1999. Patient group includes 43 children with B.H attacks and control group includes 43 child with other disease which had no effect on C.B.C findings. Demographic characteristics and C.B.C Findings recorded and evaluated by Chi-square and exact Fisher Tests. Study showed that rate of B.H attacks in boys was 65.1% and in girls 34.9%, most common rate was in age 1-2 years (58.1 %). In 74.4% of patients B.H attacks was of cyanotic type and 46.5% of patients had at least one attack daily. C.B.C findings such as R.B.C number, M.C.V and M.C.H in compare with normal values, in patients was lower than control groups and this difference statistically was significant. Study showed that decreased number of R.B.C and magnitude of M.C.V and M.C.H in patient with B.H attack were more than control group. It is suggested that more analytical and experimental studies are needed for evaluation of iron compound effects on C.B.C findings and B.H attacks.

Abstract:

Semantic relations between words like synsets are used in automatic ontology production which is a strong tool in many NLP tasks. Synset extraction is usually dependent on other languages and resources using techniques such as mapping or translation. In our proposed method, synsets are extracted merely from text and corpora. This frees us from the need for special resources including Word-Nets or dictionaries. The representation model for words of corpus is based on Vector Space model and the most similar words to each are extracted based on common features count (CFC) using a modified cosine similarity measure. Furthermore, a graph-based soft clustering approach is applied to create clusters of synonymous words. To examine performance of the proposed method, Extracted synsets were compared to other Persian semantic resources. Results show an accuracy of 80. 25%, which indicates improvement in comparison to the 69. 5% accuracy of pure clustering by committee method.

Abstract:

Background and Objectives Sport hematology is a new branch in the field of exercise physiology with a history of not more than 30 years in the world; in Iran, it is even shorter with just a brief literature available. Thus, the aim of this study is to make a brief and accurate review of the previous studies about“Complete Blood cells Count (CBC) ” in sport.Materials and Methods In this study, a brief review on 81 articles published either in Persian or English was done. The sources were either local (2 books and 16 articles) or foreign (10 Wikipedia texts and 38 articles) publications. Results The results show that an acute exercise causes an increase in red blood cells destruction and a transient sport anemia due to hemolysis generated by mechanical impact, oxidative stress, and hematuria. Moreover, an increase in leukocytic and thrombocytic indexes was observed after a single session of physical exercise; the increase is due to hormonal changes, elevated blood flow, and escape of cells from spleen, bone marrow, and lungs. Despite the above changes, adaptation to regular physical training may not be altered; however, any little alteration would be attributed to plasma volume changes which should be considered in interpretation. Conclusions Physical activity and exercise can seriously change CBC indexes; however, the impact of such changes can be highly reduced through appropriate recovery measures followed by getting back to regular training and the related adaptation schedule.

Abstract:

INTRODUCTION: THE ANALYSIS OF SPECIMENS, OBTAINED FROM PATIENTS WITH COLD AGGLUTININ DISEASES IS, IN GENERAL, A DIFFICULT PROBLEM FOR AUTOMATED HEMATOLOGY ANALYZERS. COLD AGGLUTININ DISEASES IS A FORM OF AUTOIMMUNE HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA CASED BY COLD-REACTING AUTOANTIBODIES. AUTOANTIBODIES THAT BIND TO ERYTHROCYTE MEMBRANE LEADING TO PREMATURE ERYTHROCYTE DESTRUCTION (HEMOLYSIS) CHARACTERIZE AUTOIMMUNE HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA. IN SUCH PATIENTS, BECAUSE OF AGGREGATION OF THE RBCS, WHICH OCCURS MAINLY AT TEMPERATURES LOWER THAN 30OC, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO MEASURE THE RBC COUNT AND HEMATOCRIT ACCURATELY.

Abstract:

Background: The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic showed the importance of simple, low-cost, and accessible tests for patient triage. Complete Blood Count (CBC) can be considered a good option for predicting the prognosis of COVID-19 and daily follow-up of hospitalized patients.    Methods: CBC tests of 100 COVID-19 patients admitted to the general ward or intensive care unit (ICU) were monitored for ten days. Routine laboratory tests were also performed. In addition, the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) were calculated at the time of admission.    Results: The WBC count of the ICU-admitted patients was significantly lower than in the non-ICU-admitted group (P = 0.008). The mean lymphocyte percentage of deceased patients was significantly lower than in the survived patients (P = 0.041), whereas the mean neutrophil percentage of the former group was higher than the latter (P = 0.012). Moreover, the mean monocyte percentage of the survivors was significantly more than that of non-survivors (P = 0.003). However, there was no significant difference in mean platelet counts, hemoglobin levels, and red blood cell count between the studied groups.    Conclusion: A lower WBC, lymphocyte percentage, and monocyte percentage, in addition to a higher neutrophil percentage, may indicate a poor prognosis in moderate to severe COVID-19 patients.

Abstract:

Purpose: clustering and co-word analysis is a method to reveal relationships and links and illustrate the intellectual structure of a scientific field. This research tries to study the intellectual structure of articles in the field of futures studies in Iran by using the technique of co-word analysis. Method: The current research is a descriptive-analytical development with a scientometric approach. The statistical population is 921 articles retrieved records in the field of futures studies. Findings: The findings showed that articles in the field of futures studies in Iran are often associated with positive growth, and in terms of frequency, the keywords scenario, Islamic Republic, and foresight are the most frequent in futures studies. The findings related to the hierarchical clustering led to the formation of 8 clusters in this field, namely "ICT visions", "geographers who love the future", "knowledge development", " Futuristic higher education", "Future of Religion", "Regional Relations", "Strategic Foresight" and "Heavy Weight of Method". Conclusion: According to the findings of the current research and the high frequency of the keyword scenario, as well as the density and relationships of this keyword with other keywords, it can be concluded that the scenario is the dominant approach in futures studies. Also, according to the resulting clusters, it was observed that these researches have a high variety, but addressing the future in many areas is still neglected.
